Hattusa which is situated near modern Bogazkale (formerly Bogazköy) was the capital of the Hittite Empire in the late Bronze Age. The region is set in a loop of the Kizil River (Marashantiya in Hittite sources and Halys in Classical Antiquity) in central Anatolia.
Hattusa was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1986.
You may watch my 33 high resolution photos in a slide-show Hattusas-Yazilikaya out of my Webshot page. |

mvtouring Tue Jun 23, 2009 21:07 UTC Another impressive page you have here. Thanks for sharing ;-) | WulfstanTraveller Wed Jun 17, 2009 18:59 UTC Impressive. You sure have added a lot to your Bogazkale page. Mine now pales in comparison! It's great to help spread information about this wonderful site. | haiamisa Mon Jun 15, 2009 10:03 UTC Thanks for your comment on my page. Sorry for a late reply, but I was not connected for some time. All those hittite sites are really something quite different. Definitely off the beaten path.! | Trekki Wed Mar 4, 2009 07:05 UTC Very interesting! I never heard of this place (but should have... from history lessons). Fascinating excavations and your videos and slide shows are great! I love the music from the bus tour :-) And these dogs... are soooo cute! |
