Matthew 11:23:
“And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades”.
Capernaum was a settlement on the shore of the Sea of Galilee in ancient time. The site is a ruin today, unfortunately.
The original name in Hebrew is Kfar Nahum or “Nahum’s village”.
The town is mentioned in the New Testament. It was reported to have been the home of the apostles Peter, Andrew, James and John, as well as Matthew.
Jesus taught in the synagogue in Capernaum on the Sabbath. In Capernaum also, Jesus healed a man who had the spirit of an unclean devil and healed a fever in Simon Peter's mother-in-law. It is also the place where a Roman Centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant.

This looks like an interesting place to visit!
Sergey, outstanding photos of the Orthodox Church of the 12 Apostles here. Fabulous little page about your adventures Capernaum.
Wow, the mosaics inside the church are stunning! And again - such a peaceful landscape, such a peaceful music :-)
Enjoying "visiting" the Holy Land with you - thanks for sharing :-)
Excellent page Sergey! I enjoyed the tour and each time I visit one of your delightful pages, I learn something new. Thank you!
Hello, Sergey! Thanks for bringing Capernaum closer to us! ><><><
Fine photos in your travelogues and tips! I never realized that the Sea of Galilee was the lowest freshwater lake on Earth.
very interesting church in architecture and paintings inside. funny shots of animals in travelogue :-)
Thats another interesting place mentioned already in the Holy Bible and the Church of the 12 Apostles looks really great inside. Its a pity that I have not seen that when I had been in Israel.
