The arch is at the top of a hill in the center of the huge area of the Star - Etual. The area is named so because of 12 largest arteries of city miss. Now it has another name - Charles's de Gaulle Square. Napoleon started to build an arch in 1806 in honour of the Great Army . The construction was finished in 1836. The prototype of an arch was Konstantin's Arch in Rome, but Arc de Triomphe surpassed its sizes and magnificence. It has almost square form - height of 50 meters, width - 45 meters.
Unlike the Roman arch, it has only one flight, width of 15 meters that shelfs could pass under the Arch. Arches is decorated by huge bas-reliefs, each of which represents any fragment of history of France. The bas-relief "Marseillaise" which represents a campaign of volunteers in 1792 is most known. The basic victories of Napoleon are embodied in the top bas-reliefs, and on sculptural boards names of great battles are engraved.

The destructions caused by time, people, tragedies of wars, within many centuries distorted its initial shape. In days of the French revolution the Cathedral was under threat of pulling down, but it was saved with dedication to the goddess of Reason which cult Robespier entered. In 1804 Napoleon was crowned in the Cathedral , and in 1871 it was nearly lost from a fire.

The bottom church in height of 7 meters forms the high basis for all design. From enormous windows of the Top church are coming to an end lancet turrets rise upwards.
The abrupt inclined roof finishes with a spike in height of 75 meters. As a whole all design differs ease. Structural elements make impression of a thin embroidery, a graceful lace.

However any mention of Conciergerie causes times of Revolution in memory. Examining chambers and studying secrets of their device, we as though make a way of those doomed to death of people. Special interest is caused Maria Antoinette's with chamber where the queen contemptuously named "austrian", lead last days before execution. In the morning she cut off the hair and villages in a cart to go on a scaffold where several months ago there was executed her husband.

The Tower was built in the beginning of XVI century. It is one more bright sample of a "burning" gothic style. There are a lot of windows, alternating niches, spikes and turrets on which sculptures are installed. At the top of the Tower - Sacred Jacque's statue.

Hotel de Ville is at the center of the extensive square which served as a place of a public execution during centuries. There is the Municipality of the city now. Earlier, in XVI century there was a building in style of Renaissance at this place. But it burned down in a fire of 1871, during battles which led to falling of the Commune.
The modern building was constructed in the same style later. All the complex with its pavilions topped by domes in the form of truncated pyramids, and with set of the statues placed everywhere, is impressive and original. Really, there are 136 statues at four facades, and at a terrace of a roof - statue of Etienne Marcel - the head of a guild of the Parisian merchants are totaled. He was an instigator of the disorders that shaken Paris in the XIV-th century.
