Off The Beaten Path: Swan pond

As the decoration of their fantasy castles testifies, the nineteenth-century Bavarian kings Maximilian II and his son Ludwig II were obsessed by the swan motif and the medieval Grail legends associated with it.
We saw swans in Hohenschwangau and Nimphenburg in Munich but there weren’t swans in Linderhof. May be they left the pond for a moment, may be... Nevertheless the Swan pond reminded us the ballet "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky. They say the Great Russian composer visited Bavaria before he created his masterpiece.

Have a walk around Linderhof area. You will have a pleasure from beautiful river.
This river reminded me the Caucasus and its mountain rivers Baksan, Cheghem and Chereck. It is known, that a mountain river in an usual sunny day often represents a small stream which can be waded easily.
However after a rain the river turns to a raging water stream which washes off all on its way. It has happened some days before our arrival in Lindenhof. I wrote about it in my tourist trap tip.
