About Tobias Plieninger

by Tobias_Plieninger - last update: Nov 25, 2008

It isn't so difficult

A Way through my VT pages.

Hello VT-friends,

my VT Page is about things I have experienced with my football travels.

I always travel around because I want to watch football games.

There is no other reason for traveling than that!

If I want to see a football match nothing can keep me away from this.

A football match takes only 90 minutes or longer.

When I am not in the stadium I want to experience the culture, architecture etc of the country I am.

I have finished to make a chapter about each country I have visited.

I have made a small introduction for every continent and countries.
The introduction begins with a few sentences about my thoughts about those countries.
Then I will give you some facts about climate and geography.

On the country page there will be much general information about getting there and around and the customs.
I have added a lot of links for information about that.

How to get to certain places or cities will be described in a sub chapter about the city.

For me there is much to do ... So please be patient. New infos will be upated as soon as possible.

With my sites I want to share some information with other football fans and travellers. The information has been collected before I knew that I would publish it here. So sorry when it is not exact enough.

If you recognize that a link is not working please let me.

Have fun by reading my tips. I hope that they help you.

Yours Tobias

About me and my life

Most important thing to say is that I am Christian.

I do believe in God and Jesus.

The grace of god is the best thing I have in my life.

With his grace and the strenght from the holy spirit I have strengt like an eagle. Strenght will rise upon the Lord!

In normal life I work for the Volksbank Rems in Schorndorf.

The money I earn there is mostly invested in my football travells.

In average I watch about 100 new stadiums in 5 new countries each year.

At the moment I am also busy with my studies of economics.

So that I have not seen so many stadiums in 2005, 2006, 2007

But I hope that investment in the studies can be reinvested soon ...

I am not married and I have no girl friend at the moment.

I have 30 vacant days in one year. All of this are spent for travelling around.

But I often do weekend trips in Germany or the neighbouring countries or with the cheap flyers to other destinations in Europe.

And I do also support my favorite football club VfB Stuttgart For many years I am a season tickte holder ond many away games I support the red ring.
Sea the personal album VfB Stuttgart a passion that never ends!

Yours Tobias

My way of traveling

About my way of travelling

When I travel I first look which match is interesting.

Then I search for a cheap way of getting there.

My way of traveling is to travel cheap.

I always stay in budget hostels or homestays.

The only thing I need is a bed to sleep.

The way of transport doesn't matter to me

I always choose the cheapest one to see the matches.

I try to get an impression of the local kitchen.

But often I buy things in a supermarket for making my own food.

I love to get in connection with the people of the country.

That's why I am my own guide. I always try to be on places away from mass tourism.

My general way of life is to think positive about everything.

I always see more the positive things about a country and its people than the negative things.

About my hobby: Groundhopping

Do you know what groundhopping is?

This is a very rare hobby.

There are not much groundhoppers in the world.

Ground = Football stadium

Hopping = Traveling around to see new stadiums.

Groundhoppers travel around to see much stadiums in many different countries as possible.

In England, the home of football, an association of Groundhoppers has first been founded. This has been in the 70ties.
To get a member you must have seen a match in all 92 grounds of the first four english profesional leagues.

In Germany there is also an association of Groundhoppers.
The german association "VdGD" has been founded 1993.
At the moment we have 74 members.
To become a member you must have seen more than 300 different stadiums in 30 countries.
Our association publishes each year a list of all stadiums.
The groundhopping informer.
Four times a year our magazine with fixtures and information is published.
Our homepage contains much information about fixtures and stadiums(see www.europlan-online.de)

Today (25.11.2008) I have watched over 1300 soccer games in over 900 different stadiums in 80 different countries of the world.
I have seen 422 games abroad from Germany in 381 Grounds out of my home country.

My biggest sucess is that I am the youngest person in the world who has seen a football match in all members of the UEFA. (European Football Association) In the age of 24 I have finished this!

I am the first football fan who has seen football matches in all countries which have belonged to the Soviet Union UDSSR. This has been 2005.

Information about my friend Fred Siwaks project

VT-member PALS - Fred Siwak - suffers from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) - also known as Lou Gehrig's disease and MND (motor neuron disease). His progressive disease means he's unable to travel - but he has started a project to have his art photographed in every country of the world. In this pic you can see his butterfly of which I will take a picture in Sudan. Visit PALS VT-homepage to read more about his project - maybe you can help him fulfill his dream?

Hi Tobias! Good to see that Stuttgart have started the season well! Hope it continues! :-) Things are going ok for Wednesday - 1 win, 2 draws and 1 defeat so far - better than last year when we lost the first 6 games! :-)
