Playa Del Carmen is located about 30 miles south of Cancun. It used to be Mexico's best kept secret, but the word is out, this little gem is the best of both worlds. You get a little mexican village with friendly people, good food and better deals on trinkets than you would in Cancun. Want to party? Not a problem, Senior Frog's is there as well as Carlos O' Charlies. Playa Del Carmen has the nice calm beach's that Cancun does not. You can relax on the white soft sand, then take a dip without being knocked around by the waves. Want to take a moonlight stroll at night without interruption by the party go'ers? You can do it here. Want to snorkel? You can do it right off your hotel beach. You can party hard or you can relax to your heart's desire. Take a day trip to Cozumel, the Ferry is right here in town. 40 minutes and your on a carribean island. Want to see Tulum, Akumel, Xel-ha or play with the Dolphins? All this is within a 5 to 10 minute cab ride depending on where your staying, just a short stroll down the road. Want to go into Cancun for a party night? It's just a 45 minute cab ride away. There is so much variety in what you can do here and all within a close range. But better hurry, Playa Del Carmen is building up fast and it won't stay this small quant village for long.
