"In the beginning" mistressmau's Profile

Perched on the edge of the beautiful english lake district lies a peninsula surrounded by the Irish sea. This peninsula is known as the Furness Peninsula and nestled right on the very tip lies Barrow-in-Furness.

Barrow-in-Furness is a moderate sized town and is situated close to outer towns, villages and places of interest. Shipbuilding used to be the main line of work providing plenty of jobs and a healthy income until the late 80's - early 90's. Although still in operation lots of other industries, manufacturers and retail stores have inhabitied the town. In retrospect a Dock Museum was built enabling visitors to view and learn the history of the industry. It also plays host to regular art exhibitions. I'll talk lots more about my home town in my travel page as there are so many delights that I have to mention to you.

Anyway, this is where I live with my daughter and my partner, 1 cat and 1 dog and very soon a bengal kitten will become another member of my unit. Travel is so much fun and so interesting, it gives us release from the mundane things in life. It helps us to wind down, be in thought, and leaves the hunger to learn, see and live craving for more. I tell you, I am always getting itchy feet. My partner will vouch for that! And because of my jetting off addiction, I have to take my family with me, which means lots of family trips, even if it's only for a weekend. This year we have travelled to many destinations and are now discussing next years escapades. I'm pretty lucky that my partner also has itchy feet and my daughter, well she wants to be an explorer.

Lets get out of here!

As a family, we love to get out and about. That is anthing from walking the dog on the beach, a short car ride to the lake district for a gentle amble, a 2 mile bike ride to jumping on a train, plane or other mode of transport to reach futher areas of Britain and places abroad. We also love to visit Castles, Abbeys, Museums and other places of interest.

As I work full time in Reception for a very large firm, I get to meet interesting people from all over the world, so I always feel the need to make the most of 'my' free time, and that to me means getting out and about in the fresh air, dining out, and now and again maybe visit a goth club or a long awaited gig, but always we discuss our next holiday venture. This year our biggie was Romania, and to summon it up "I haven't finished there yet!!" But we also headed down to London twice and Evelyne even managed to meet Einstein!
