General Tips: Famous Musical Artist
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing:
Vancouver can lay claim to many, many great musical artists and acts, some of you may remember the name Long John Baldry, a blues musician and singer who was involved in inspiring Britain's rock scene in the early 1960's, he spent much of the past 25 years here as a Vancouverite, he was a mentor to Rod Stewart and Elton John, he passed away here in Vanc. he was 64.

Only the good die young is the saying, he continued to perform for much of his time here in Vancouver, and was fairly popular to the end. He was born in East Maddon, England, and while he had many hits, his most memorable one was,
"Don't try to lay no Boogie-Woogie on the King of Rock and Roll."

He got his name from his 6'7" height.
He became a Canadian citizen in 1981
July 21st, 2005 was the date of his departure.

    Fondest Memory:
Getting around this city you can take transit, and work some days to find a seat, or you can take your own vehicle. You can rent one of these Honda Scooters down at Carter Motorsports, at the entrance to Granville Island. They are alot of fun if you're careful, and cheap to run. Top speed is a whopping 51 KPH, or roughly 30 MPH

    General Tips: Hollywood North
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Favorite Thing: Many films are shot in and around Vancouver, usually they hide the fact that it's actually Vancouver. Such as Jackie Chans "Rumble in the Broncs". or Slyvester Stallones' "First Blood" to name only a few. At the moment a new film is using Vancouver as it's location. Something called: Survivor, or Survivors. The University of BC and various other locations are being utilized, which surely will become another country through the magic of cinema

Great page!! Love the photo's and tips...excellent! I remember when my Kodak crapped out, so I bought a cheaper Olympus. I hated it. So I got my old camera fixed. I love having it back! Happy Trails!! Hugs!!
