Next Time, I'll Stay Longer

Stayed here in Hua Hin for about a week in March of 2001, I enjoyed it, could have stayed here much longer, as there is alot more to see.

First Sight of the Flooding

After a night riding the train down to Bangkok, from Chiang Mai in the north, we hopped into a cab, then a bus ride down to Hua Hin. It had been raining almost steadily since early morning, and at times the two days before. So when we arrived in Hua Hin, some of the streets were actually flooded. People could be seen getting around on their scooters with feet raised away from the floods. Hua Hin is also the place where the King of Thailand anchors his ship, while he gets away from it all. While I was there his ships could be seen off the coast.

As you can see on this map, the distance from Bangkok to Hua Hin is a few Kilometres, it took a long, long bus ride. Especially when I really had to pee, and no washroom on that bus, and with all that rain coming down outside! Mann! Just call me iron bladder. Whoo Boy! When we made a rest stop, I almost ran to the little room.

All of the food I tried in Thailand (in general) was very good, perhaps my taste-buds really had been lacking this food... more travel advice

Seriously, I loved it here so much that when I bought a postcard to send back to work. A Thai waitress helped me... more travel advice
