Dongguan, a city in Guangdong Province, about 1 hour drive from Guangzhou Airport (Bai Yun) and about 45 mins drive from Shenzhen Airport (Bao An).

Today, Dongguan is more of a well-known furniture city whereby alot of factories built over there for manufacturing furniture.

Every year, there will be two big furniture fairs hold in Dongguan -- The International Famous Furniture Fair, on 17th to 21st March and 17th to 21st August. (Btw, it has entered the 15th year this year, 2006).

In Dongguan, there is a place called Houjie, which people called "Little Taiwan" because many Taiwanese businesemen set up factories over there. It is one of the most vibrant places seen in Dongguan for shopping and, oh well, women. As there is an unspoken "Er Nai Jie" -- (Mistress Street) along Houjie area, it is very easy to spot "sophistically dressed" ladies there.

"Mu Zu" -- literally wash feet is a very common activity in Dongguan. Ask any businessman who goes there, almost 9 out of 10 will visit Mu Zu. In fact, having seen some other cities in China, I think Mu Zu is a common entertainment in most places in China. The fees is around RMB35 for 70 minutes (less than USD5) and it is very competitive to operate this business as there are alot of Mu Zu around, thus some of them will give better rates like RMB 30 for 70 minutes with free drinks and fruits. Personally, it is my almost every night venture to visit Mu Zu after dinner, for no other reasons, but to talk with the girls to understand the culture of the city better. Through their eyes, you could see the country in a bigger picture.

Today, Dongguan is seen to be developing very well, with big shopping malls like Hua Nan Mall as well as some other big brands like Walmart, it no longer attracts only businesemen but tourists as well to visit the place.
