Pohnpei, FSM | Pohnpei International Airport |
Pohnpei is the capital state of the Federated States of Micronesia. You might say "Where the hell is Pohnpei?" Well, it's somewhere in the middle of the Pacific ocean and about halfway between Guam and Hawaii. Sept. this year was my second visit to this beautiful country. It reminded me of LB a lot since you see green all around you. They say it's one of the wettest places on earth since the interior of the island gets about 400in of rain per year.
It's a small island with lots of interesting places to visit e.g. waterfalls, Nan Madol ruins, WWII ruins, etc.
You plane in at the Pohnpei International Airport via Continental Airlines (no other airline serves the islands) so no choice but to fly Continental. It's a B737 and if you're coming from Manila or Hawaii, expect a few stops before you reach Pohnpei. |
| | Nan Madol Ruins Ruins of an ancient civilization. |
| | Kepirohi Falls One of the most captivating falls I have seen. It's really awesome. |
