"Mystical Malham" Malham by Myfanwe

Malham Travel Guide: 41 reviews and 166 photos

Malham is a small village in the Pennines, at the southern base of the Yorkshire Dales. It's a lovely picturesque place with a babbling stream running through it, a great stone bridge, hearty village pubs and a few cafe's to boot.

Malham was mentioned in the Domesday book as 'Malgun', it has been a settlement for at least a thousand years. Traces of Iron age boundaries are still visible today. One hundred years ago, Malham was a place of mills and mines. Nowadays the place is a firm favourite for Walkers and having experienced the glorious countryside surrounding Malham first hand I can see why.

There are numerous attractions in and around Malham if like me you are a fan of the Countryside and like walking. The long distance walking route 'The Pennine Way' skirts around the Village and there are also well signposted routes to the nearby Malham Cove, breathtaking scenery at Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss waterfall.

One of the great attractions in Malham is the Lister Arms which is situated overlooking the village green and provided a great refuge for thirsy VT ers and a rest for aching limbs after a fantastic walk on the Dales
