Margam Travel Guide: 12 reviews and 62 photos

Margam is a small town situated in-between Port Talbot and the seaside town of Porthcawl in South Wales. The main tourist attractions on offer at Margam are the Country Park, Margam Abbey and the Margam Stones Museum, which are all within a stones throw of each other (excuse the pun)!

The Country park is full of history, wildlife and much more, there are surprises around every corner. The main attraction is the wonderful Tudor Gothic style Victorian Mansion house locally known as the 'Castle'. The 18th Century Orangery, 12th Century chapter house. Beautiful landscaped gardens surround the Castle, there are several cycle & walking trails for you to admire the splendid scenery. There are also Adventure play areas for the Children and a Narrow guage railway to take you from the Car park to the castle. Perfectly nestled in 1000 acres of beautiful Welsh Countryside this is a great place to spend the day, take a picnic or hire a bike from the visitors centre.

Beautiful Grounds and Gardens

There are many walking trails around the Country park and it's a great place to spot all sorts of wildlife. Margam Country park is famous as a deer park, here you'll find fallow deer and the rare Peer David Deer which have been introduced into the herd.

Historic Buildings

Around every corner you'll find something interesting to learn about and admire.
