Istanbul . Just hearing the name brings so many great memories to mind. After my first trip to this great city, and all of the great things that I saw and did, I thought that it would have been the pinnacle of my traveling experience here. Little did I know that my second time to Istanbul would be even better! There's just something about this place that captivates me; the lively people, the beautiful setting, the abundant history. It all meshes together and provides me with an endless amount of amazement and delight. I just can't say enough about how much I love this city, and how much I have enjoyed my time here. I only wish it was closer so I could visit more often! :)

Istanbul is truly a place packed full of things to do and see. For me personally, I thoroughly enjoyed being able to visit a few historical sites, browse through several shops and bazaars, and then sip on some tea and have a bite to eat in a quiet cafe, all in one day. And subsequently being able to repeat this practice everyday, while never going to the same place twice! Its one of those places where you can almost lose yourself in its atmosphere. And I can guarantee you no matter how long your stay in Istanbul is, it will always feel like it was never long enough!

I love meeting new people, and I love trying new foods. It's kind of funny, but I relate my experiences with the people of Istanbul along with my experiences of the food here. The people, as well as the food, are quite different than the people and food of my native Texas. But after my initial mini-culture shock, I found that most of the people in this city are very friendly, and the food, while in some cases consists of some interesting ingredients, is delicious! Trying to deal with an obnoxious taxi driver, and tasting kokoreç (skewered lamb intestines), were both unnerving experiences the first time around. But taxi drivers became very easy to communicate with once I got my bearings around the city, and kokoreç is actually very yummy (I just don't think about what I am eating!). I have to say that the people and the food of Istanbul are my favorite things about the city! :)
