The Land...

Terengganu is one of the state located in the East Cost of Peninsula Malaysia. It's in between Kelantan at the North and Pahang at the South. Terengganu state consists of a few districts such as Kuala Terengganu, the state capital, Jerteh, Marang, Dungun, Kemaman, Hulu Terengganu, etc (sorry, I can't recall the others).

Terengganu doesn't actually follow the trend of development changes. That's why you can see most part of Terengganu still preserving it natural and original states. You can rarely see high building even in the state capital itselft. Development is very slow i can say. Returning to Terengganu after a few years, and will realize that not much has been changed. The same roads, the same old building, and a few new wooden or brick houses. That's is the reason why many city people like to travel to the peaceful Terengganu just to get away from all the busy city life!

Towards the South of Terengganu, somewhere near the Kerteh and Paka, you will see a totally different side of Terengganu. There lies a heavy industrial area mainly consists of the oil & gas refineries, electricity generator station, kargo port, etc. If you are to travel across Kerteh or Paka in the night, you can see the sky is light up by the fire from the refineries.

The people...

In my opinion, Terengganu is the state having the most percentage of Malay people compare to Chinese, Indian and others. As for Chinese, normally they will be in the town area, such as Kuala Terengganu, Dungun, Kerteh, etc. Whereas for Indian and other races you can hardly find one in Terengganu. And if you did during your stay, you are quite lucky i can say.

One thing i like about the people in Teregganu, they all are very friendly. Although the Malays made up most of the people in Terengganu, but they never bully other races. Chinese and other people can have their own activities, going for their religious ceremony, etc... But one exception i want to state here, is that they like to be bother a lot whenever there is an accident happen involving a Malay and other races! The rest is fine, so don't you worry about that!

Places of Interest - Beach, Island, Natural Forest

Looking at the map of Peninsular Malaysia, you will realize that the shape of Terengganu state is longer compare to other states in Peninsular. Because of this, there is a long beach to the East of Terengganu facing the South China Sea.

To the locals, nothing special about the beach, maybe because they've seen it frequently in their life. This is what I experienced! Nothing special, the only different between the beaches is maybe the sand is whiter or tinier than the other. But if you're coming from other places where the beach is polluted, or don't really have many chance to go to the beach, then any of the beaches in Terengganu will surely capture your mind!!
