Natural Beauty All Around Seattle is known for its rain. But when the weather is clear (most frequently July through September) there are some magnificent views to be had from within and just outside the city. You have Puget Sound, the Cascades and its series of volcanic peaks (the tallest and most famous of which is Mount Rainier), and the Olympic Mountains across the water. When the atmospheric conditions are right, the proximity of land and water can create some interesting optical effects, like the "floating mountain" you see above. |
