  • This hostel has magnificent views... but you have to pay for the views, because it's a long uphill walk from town. The hostel itself is no-frills -- a "double room" is really a 4-bunk room reserved for two. On the positive side, the room is quite spacious. No breakfast is served, though you can purchase a pricey breakfast at the nearby 4-star Hotel Hotel Føroyar (incidentally, you'll also normally check in at the hotel). There is, however, a common refrigerator and kitchen for guests' use. Note you're expected to clean up after yourself. Coin-operated washing machines and dryers on the first floor; 6 x Kr 10 coins and 1 x Kr 2 coin are what you need to clean your clothes (Kr 30 for washer, Kr 30 for dryer, Kr 2 for detergent). The soda/snack machines also take Kr 10 coins. You can get change at the Hotel Føroyar counter.

When we stayed here (June 2007), we were charged DKK 370 per night for a double room. The website now says a room costs DKK 410. A bunk in a quad costs DKK 175. Hostel members can get about a DKK 15 discount. Sheets are not provided but mandatory. You can rent sheets from the hotel for a one-time fee of DKK 65. Note also that the hostel does not allow alcohol or tobacco.

Unique Qualities: - Inexpensive place to stay
    - Excellent views
    - Common kitchen

Thanks for the message - the reason for the MNarch visit was that I could, and infact the weather was fine and it was quite a pleasant trip. The only down was that everything on Nolsoy was shut on the Sunday - even though they were advertsied as open.

Excellent information, especially about transportation, and great pictures. I would love to visit the Natural History museum, but I'd prefer to meet the polar bear behind a glass case. He's huge!!
