This blocky building doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a decent place to stay, especially if your flight arrives after the last bus of the day to Tórshavn has left. The hotel itself was just fine... even if there was a bit of an adventure to begin with when we found our assigned room was already occupied! Once that difficulty was resolved, we enjoyed the rest of our stay.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, with its own bathroom and shower (Note: the sink faucet doubles as the shower head when placed in the shower stall). Our common peeve of two separate beds was the case yet again. (What's the deal -- don't married couples travel together around here?? Sheesh!)
As of August 2007, a double room cost
Kr 885, including a nice buffet breakfast. Credit cards accepted.
UPDATE: Apparently, National Geographic Magazine made a visit here recently and wrote an article entitled "62 Degrees North." In some sort of tourist tie-in, the hotel has re-named itself "Hotel 62-North," associated with a host of other "62-North" themed activities and establishments across the Faroes. While I do not blame the enterprising Faroese for working hard to draw in additional tourist Krónur, prospective travelers should beware of any significantly increased prices.
Unique Qualities: - Full-service hotel within walking distance of the airport
- Fully licensed bar
- Buffet breakfast included
