Mountains and Waterfalls | The mountains and Staubbach Falls |
When you enter Lauterbrunnen, you can hear the main attraction. Staubbach Falls is as unmissable as it is beautiful. On a clear day, the combination of the falls and the mountains is breathtaking. Another waterfall, Trummelbach Falls, is a short walk or bus ride away. |
| The Schilthorn Gondola rises into the clouds |
| | The Schilthorn Gondola A pleasant 1-hour walk (or a short bus ride) from Lauterbrunnen is Stechelberg, home of the Schilthorn gondola. On its way to the Schilthorn, the lift system makes stops at Birg, in Mürren, and of course, the sole Swiss village sporting the Rick Steves Seal of Approval, Gimmelwald. |
| | Gateway to the Jungfraujoch Also departing from Lauterbrunnen is the high railway through Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg. From Kleine Scheidegg, you can board the train for the Tourist Nirvana that is the Jungfraujoch. If you do decide to go to the Jungfraujoch, be sure to bring warm clothing. And lots of money. |
