I've now visited Norway 3 times, Sara twice. On our 2006 vacation, we arrived in Narvik from Sweden. From there, we took the express boat to Svolvær, then we took the Hurtigruten cruise to north to Kirkenes, via Tromsø and the North Cape. The views were magnificent, plus we had a wonderful visit with VT friend Narviking in Narvik. Before that, Sara and I visited during our "Honeymoon Part II" we took in 2004. We saw Oslo, Ulvik, Balestrand, and Bergen. Before that, I visited in 1997 on a blitz tour through Denmark and Norway. I had a blast with my Eurailpass, sleeping every single night on one night train or another (No pictures from this trip, but then again, that might not be a bad thing. ;). Not a feat I'm likely to repeat now that I'm married...

If you like to travel by boat, then Norway is an excellent choice for you. There are plenty of ferries, express boats, and cruises. My favorite boat trips are the express boat through the Sognefjord and the Hurtigruten coastal steamer.

Enroute to our various destinations, we got to take in some great scenery. There was a great bus ride from Voss to Ulvik with views of the Hardagnerfjord. Then we took 2/3 of the "Norway in a Nutshell" (the bus and boat, but not the train) from Voss to Stalheim to Gudvagen to Flåm. Finally, we took an express boat along the Sognefjord to Bergen via Balestrand. Absolutely gorgeous.

We've loved our trips to Norway. We definitely hope to visit again soon. Till then, we'll just have to enjoy our photos and memories of past trips.
