The Spaniard Inn: Fine Dining with a View The Spaniard Bar and Restaurant Review

What's not to like? A gourmet restaurant and a great pub all rolled into one. You can enjoy fine dining in the restaurant with wonderful views of Kinsale, or you can go into the dark, woody pub and drink Guinness 'til closing. We chose the former.

Favorite Dish: I seem to remember I had some excellently prepared trout with crabmeat filling. I probably should've had the wine, but couldn't resist having a pint of Murphy's Stout with it.

The Little Skillet: Very nice restaurant in Kinsale

A cozy, gourmet restaurant with lovely seafood and good service. It's especially nice if you're tired of fried food. Good portions and fresh vegetables keep you satisfied and healthy.

Favorite Dish: Save room for dessert. The chocolate-brandy mousse is to die for.

OK, so it's not healthy. Personally, I think chocolate should be added as one of the food groups.

Fishy Fishy Cafe: Something Fishy going on... Fishy Fishy Cafe Review

Sometimes, an establishment spends too much time reading its press clippings. After a long walk to Charles Fort, we decided to have lunch at the Fishy Fishy Cafe we heard so much about. Hungry and anticipating a wonderful lunch, we were met by a surly host who was doing his best Studio 54 bouncer impersonation. Before we could say a word, he curtly said, "We're full, come back in 2 hours."

Most annoying about this was, there were plenty of seats available. Then, about 2 minutes later, a couple was let in without a wait. Fine with us. We went around the corner and got a fine meal at a pizza take-away place.

Now we had been walking all day and were wearing hiking boots and raincoats. But it wasn't as though we were dressed like bums. If that's the attitude of Fishy Fishy Cafe's management, there are plenty of establishments who are more than happy to take my money, no matter what I look like.

Favorite Dish: I wouldn't know. Apparently, I'm not good enough to eat here.
