End of the Vacation

As our express boat docked in Bergen, we disembarked for our final place to visit. It had been quite a trip.

Bergen is a fascinating city on the west coast of Norway. Once an important trading port for the Hanseatic League, it has a very Germanic feel to it. The Hanseatic Quarter, or Bryggen, is a good example of this.

The City

The city itself is alive, especially in summer. Head down to Ole Bulls Plass and people watch. Or wander toward the train station and stroll around the lake. I've read it's called Lake Lungegårdsvann. Don't ask me to pronounce it.

A "must-do," even for the shortest trip, is to take the funicular up Mount Fløyen. You get impressive views of the city.

Alas, after a bit over a day here, it was time to head to the airport. Until next time!

(and maybe next time, I can learn how to pronounce that lake's name... ;)
