Village in the Far North

The coastal steamer made a call at this port in the far north of Norway. It was a beautiful day, but you can imagine this must be quite an unforgiving place during a winter storm.

Protected Church

As you can see in this photo, the local church, as well as the rest of the village, lies under the protection of an intricate network of snow fences. No doubt this is needed during the long, dark winter.

The Finnkirka

Kjøllefjord's claim to fame is the remarkable rock formation known as the Finnkirka. These rocks look to form a church; legend has it this was an ancient Sami holy place
