Rather than spend a third day in Stockholm, we decided to see something new. In this case, we went to Uppsala, a college town less than an hour north of Stockholm. Here, we spent a day exploring while awaiting our night train to the far north. |
| | "Old" Uppsala A short distance north of Uppsala is Gamla Uppsala, the Medieval seat of power in this part of Sweden until the Diocese church burned down. After the fire, the Bishop of Uppsala requested the church be rebuilt further south in what is now known as Uppsala. A smaller church was built on the foundations of the older Gamla Uppsala church. |
| Uppsala Cathedral before the rain |
| | Uppsala Cathedral Uppsala itself has a lot of nice outdoor parks and places to stroll. Unfortunately for us, it started pouring rain, so we took refuge in the Cathedral. All in all, not the worst place to be stranded. |
