Peggy's Cove Travel Guide: 66 reviews and 275 photos

Peggys Cove is Canada's best known fishing village. The pretty village lies 43 kilometres southwest of Halifax on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in Nova Scotia. The village was founded in 1811 when the Province of Nova Scotia issued a grant entitling six families to over 800 acres of land. The settlers relied on fishing as the mainstay of their economy but also farmed where the soil was fertile. Today Peggys Cove remains an active fishing village and a favourite tourist destination.

The lighthouse is surrounded by the 415-million-year-old granite boulders. Visitors can walk over the huge boulders to enjoy the splendid view in all directions.

Nice pictures. I'm heading that way in June and looking forward to seeing the DeGarthe gallery - my folks got one of his paintings 40 yrs or so ago. I'm looking forward to seeing Peggy's Cove in person, and further south down NS.
