In England's Green and Pleasant Land

by St_Vincent - last update: Oct 7, 2007

Welcome to my England page, if you were directed here via my home page you’ll probably know a bit about what to expect. If you have stumbled upon it by chance then perhaps a little warning is in order. This is not a traditional VT page although you will of course still learn a bit about England, its customs, traditions and the general way of life over in what we refer to as our “Green and Pleasant Land”.

When writing tips about my homeland I have usually found that I wanted to add a bit of humour, largely because I see so much to laugh about in the behaviours of my fellow countrymen. So I thought it might be fun to use my England page to bring you some of my observations on English life and to inflict upon you some of my amusing and irreverent ramblings – well I find them amusing, I guess you can make your own mind up.

For each topic I have tried to include some useful and interesting information for those intending to visit. For example you might be interested in reading about what happens here on 14th February every year, where we are on a Sunday morning when we should be in church, what we think of our National Anthem or, that most perplexing of subjects, what the unwritten rules are about talking to an English person about the weather. If you do then buckle up and take a roller coaster ride through my tips, if you don’t then I’m sure there’s something good on television.

I welcome all comments on my pages, especially the ones that say you laughed so much you nearly wet yourself. If you think I’ve got anything wrong please let me know, and if you have any ideas about topics you would like me to cover just drop me a mail or leave me a message and I’ll try to oblige.

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused
