I have paid two visits to Prague, both during 2004. The first was with 13 friends and work colleagues when we were celebrating one of our party leaving his job after more than 25 years. Although this was not a stag trip we did most of the things associated with these ventures that seem commonplace in present day Prague. On reflection I did wonder what the local community think of it when on most weekends during the summer hoards of groups turn up and without too much consideration for their surroundings proceed to get drunk and party at every opportunity.
On our return home I was discussing that with a few of my friends and five of us decided to go back later in the year. This was a quieter trip during which we could really appreciate some of the beautiful architecture and learn about and feel the history of this amazing city. I have to say I enjoyed the second trip much more than the first.
Unfortunately on the day we decided to strike out and explore the old town on foot it poured with rain. So instead we ended up joining an organised coach tour. After 45 minutes cooped up in a small minibus with the windows steamed up we were grateful to be allowed out for air, even if it was still raining. We enjoyed an excellent tour of the castle area including some great views of the city and the wonderful St. Vitus's Cathedral. Having had our fill of culture, and not wishing to get back in the minibus from hell, we decided to break off and try to find the
Klasterni Pivovar that had been recommended to us. What a great decision that was.
