Monterey is a gem of a town, located about 2 hours south of San Francisco. This is a great town with a wonderful marina, complete with a fishermans wharf and a world class aquarium and Cannery Row. The downtown is also very walkable, and close enough where one can walk from the lively marina, right to downtown. There is also a little beach here, but people come here for the boating action. There seems to be many well-to-do people here, ut they are not pretentis. The wharf has many cool divey restaurants serving fantastic Clam Chowder.
