A Quaint Village on the Bay of Kotor Perast is easy to add on to a visit to Kotor. Located around 15 miles north of Kotor, Perast is a small and peaceful village with one of the most beautiful settings.
The two islands, St. George and Our Lady of the Rock, can be reached by hiring a boat in Perast (depending on the season). The islands, one of which is man-made, have very interesting histories.
The Perast Museum has exhibits on the area's maritime history. In addition, one can walk around the ruins of the baroque palaces that dot the hillside.
I visited Perast in early May so there were very few visitors at the time, and no boats going out to the islands unfortunately. |
