A Lush Landscape | View of Lake Atitlan from Casa Palopo |
It's nice to visit a country that has not become over developed. At night Lake Atitlan is so dark, with only faint lights indicating the location of the various villages around the lake. I felt so removed from the rest of the world, and the energy in this area is hard to discribe.
When traveling in the interior of the country, the various agricultural fields create a patchwork of colors along the hillsides. Guatemala is one of the world's top producers of coffee, but sugarcane, bananas, cardamon, corn, and macadamias, are also grown in abundance. |
