"Exploring the Vizcaya Region" Axpe by isabeau

Just 28 miles east of Bilbao, and on the way to San Sebastian, is a miniscule village called Axpe...nestled among high mountain peaks. This place feels very remote when you finally find it, and a view of the panoramic beauty is worth the trip.

When I arrived the only road that runs through the village was bottlenecked by a large herd of sheep. The village proper had a bar where locals would meet, a restaurant, and a Jai-Alai court. The sound of balls bouncing resonated up to the hill where I was staying...about the only sound to be heard other than those coming from sheep.
