European VT Meeting 2006

Attendees of last great VT meeting in Verona, may recall that Carmela71 and myself (Beach_dog) offered to organise one for 2006 in Marbella. During September/October 2005, we had many requests as to what was happening. We spoke to VT staff and they are in agreement that we could organise something, if possible, they will also try to attend.

We started organising early because it would give people the best chance to book cheap flights to Malaga. Information on flights serving Malaga airport can be found in the album below.

And finally it HAPPEND lots of laughs, chats and good time, the best in a Vt meeting. I would like to thank all of you that came all the way to join us, without YOU it would have not been possible!!!!

Hotels

We have produced a hotel list in an album to help you plan your accommodation. Most of the hotels we have listed are within a 15 minutes walk of the city center and beachfront where we hope to hold most of the events. Please bare in mind that Marbella has over 30 kilometers of coastline, you could find a hotel advertising itself as Marbella and discover on arrival it 20 kilometers away. If you need help on hotel locations let us know and we can find out how close they are to the city center.

Most of the people stayed at Hotel Princesa Playa, Marbella Faro Inn, Hotel El rodeo, Hotel San Cristobal, Marbella Center Inn, Hotel Lima, Hotel Central, Hotel el fuerte & fuerte Miramar, Hostals El Castillo and El Pilar

Friday Evening 5th May.

The plan is to meet around 21:00 (9 PM) at a local restaurant. We had to cancel the restaurant we had booked due to reducing numbers of members, they said we had to pay for seventy members regardless of how many were coming. We have found two more suitable restaurants, menus, prices and a decision on which one pending. Will post info asap.

Morning/Afternoon Saturday 6th May.

Meeting around 10:30 AM for a walking tour around the Casco Antiguo (Historic Old town of Marbella), then proceeding to the Marbella sports marina for informal drinks and lunch (this lunch is not organised, there are many small cafe/bars located side by side along the front) It will be a good opportunity to meet and get to know members in the relaxed atmosphere around the marina. Possible boat trip to Puerto Banus for those interested, or continue socialising in the cafe/bar terraces.

Meet next to the fountain in Alameda park (city center)

Saturday Evening 6th May.

Meeting at a local Italian restaurant, ' Restaurante Da Pino' around 21:00 (9 PM) for dinner, located on the Beach front.Again those interested can continue for drinks/dancing/partying in the city.

Sunday 7th May.

Farewell lunch on the Beachfront at the 'Restaurante Sol de Europa', meeting at 13:00 (1:00 PM).

Other stuff.

Many people will be arriving earlier in the week than the Friday and many are staying after the Sunday. We will try and arrange some informal meetings through these periods, probably around some local bars. We will let people who are hereat these times know the plans.

Optional Bus Trip Fri 5th (Ronda & Gibraltar)

Pick-up point for daytrip.

June (Poons) is organising this day excurions, they still have 5 seats available!!!!

The driver will be at our disposal, so the itinerary can be flexible, but here
is a rough idea of what we plan :-

08:30 - 09:00 (latest) - Board coach at a location in Central Marbella, (pick up point is the bus stop at Marbell center, in the main street)
. 10:30 approx. - arrive Ronda.
13:30 approx. - depart Ronda (after lunch perhaps)
15:00 approx. - arrive Gibraltar (NOTE: here everyone will need their passports to get through border control)
17:30 - 18:00 (latest) - depart Gibraltar
19:00 - 19:30 approx. - arrive back at the central Marbella drop-off point,
time to freshen up and change to meet for Dinner

We're home safe and sound and Hansi's suitcase arrived in one piece LOL. Again I want to thank you both for our wonderful time in Marbella. We will have many great memories. Jerez was fantastic. I'm glad we got to go there. Love you both. Lori
