There are probably hundreds of women telling their grandchildren how the late George Harrison (second from the right) once waved to them. But it was actually old Cliffie - who happened to be covering a concert by the Beatles in Nottingham. Before the show, there was a chance to meet the Fab Four: no one-to-one interviews, just the four of them and a roomful of reporters and photographers. Anyway, wandering around backstage afterwards, old Cliffie - sporting the fashionable Beatle haircut of the day - opened a window and stuck his head out. Okay, it was dark and the window was high up and the crowd below knew that the Beatles were in the building - but that's when they all started screaming and chanting: George! George! George!
Enough of history. What about Nottingham today? |
