I had arrived in Rome in the morning, checked into my hotel and went for a walk and to do my usual, get a 24hr ticket on the hop on hop off bus for orientation.
Well, I arrived at the Vatican stop and walked a 100 metres or so and was blown away by St Peters Square and the sight before me. I was totally unprepared.
My itinery (not set in concrete thank god, it is usually extremely fluid,) went out the window and I was in in Vatican City for the rest of the day before catching a late hop on hop off back home to the hotel.
I later booked a tour of the musems which was also wonderful. |
