Palace Hotel: An acceptable hotel in HCMC   Check Rates

  • The Palace Hotel in HCMC is, for its price, location, and facilities, I think good value for money.

There is Internet (for a fee), a pool (very welcome) bars, a restaurant. and it is in a good part of town.

The rooms are small, somewhat old, and if you are on lower floors as I was, subject to the bass from the disco on the 2nd floor at night/early morning.

But if you are like me and a hotel is just somewhere to sleep, its all you need.

There are many restaurants within 10 mins walk that are great value, and you are in the middle of the camera shopping belt.

The cathedral, unification palace, war remanants musem are all well within walking distance as well. There is a market within 5 mins walk and the main market in HCMC is only 20 mins walk away.

Yes...I remember reading your War Remnants Museum tip. I went there too but even after your tip i wasn't prepared for how graphic the displays were. I had to force myself to look at them. Awful...but necessary to see I think. T.

Yes, my son got hassled for taking a photo of a bridge when we were in Vietnam in 1995. But otherwise we were given a very friendly welcome everywhere, even though I had been an enemy soldier in the 1960s.

I loved HCM! Perhaps it was the culture shock...something different....crazy bike drivers, dunno! But I think the people are lovely. The airport sounds like something else...we cruised in ;o) Enjoyed your write up matey :o)
