Fridays

Just be aware that some things do not operate on a friday (prayer day.)

There was one tour I wanted to do that just did not operate on a friday, and I also noted that some stalls and shops operated on somewhat reduced hours on a friday.

It's not a great problem, and easy to get around if you are prepared for it and can juggle you schedules.

Bottled water

The touristy areas selling bottled water (a necessary commodity in KK) have really marked up the prices.

If you go just across the road (in some cases) to the local shops, you can get you water there at up to 1/3 off the price being charged by shops or stalls in the tourist presincts.

Using a public toilet

Be aware that there is an entry fee for using a public toilet - generally 20 or 30 sen.
