Ok they may get it in winter, but I last visited in April, it was lovely and sunny. The area was once a major shipping port and like most of ports in the U.K has suffered from a lack of import and export of goods. These days most goods are delivered by air freight leaving docks derelict across the U.K. The Tyne like many over areas of Britain suffered and as consequence its main port in Newcastle became fairly redundant. The city’s answer was to rejuvenate the area was the sole purpose of attracting the shopping leisure business to area. The area has a good air, sea and rail infrastructure making extremely accessible from most parts of Europe. A visit to Tyne and weir offers more than a trendy city; it offers a great coast line as well as culture and fabulous sports.
NEWCASTLE*
This is certainly the main player in the area; it has amazing city life style and is main gateway to the north east of England.
Swimming or skateboarding, watercolours or water sports, youth centres or tea dances - whatever your interest, there's something for you in Newcastle. |
