My stay at Hiwang Native House was quite exciting. It is an Ifugao Hut on top of the mountain, overlooking the panoramic view of the Banaue and Hapao rice terraces. There are six natives houses that can accommodate four persons per house. It is best when you travel by a group because you can cook there if you like, saving much money for food. There's only one shared bathroom though, but it was just ok for us. In the evening only a candle can light up the whole house because the owner wants the guests to experience the old Ifugao people's way of living. However, there was a small bulb at the door house so it wasn't really dark.
Unique Qualities: It was my first time to wake up in the morning with a very thick fog surrounding the mountain area. Since it was raining, it took almost 3 hours before we could see the amazing rice terraces around us. It was really a great experience because the views were far much better than the rice terraces at the view point. We didn't waste much time so we took pictures of the magnificent scenery.. .One more exciting thing with our stay there was when we visited a native house with many antique collections inside, located just a few steps away from the owner's house. Mr. Noel Balenga, the owner of the place told us the history of the century-old collections he was selling. So if you are an antique collector, you can get good buys here.
