The political process that conducts to the foundation of The Silver is initiated in February of 1880, with the sanction of the law that proclaimed to the city of buenos aires, up till then capital of the province of the same name, Federal Capital of the Republic Argentina. The transfer to the Nation of the city port caused a division among the public men of the province; the clash between provincial and national authorities did not delay in being produced, arriving inclusive al spilling of blood. The stone fundacional was placed in 1884, being situated the minutes of foundation in a ballot box of crystal along with silver currencies and bronze, cards and a medal with the image of the Pope Lion XII; the same one is found in a box of black marble in which was recorded "ANNO DOMINI 1884". December 22, 1901 was inaugurated the Chapel Our Lady of the Pains, which was knocked down in the fiftieth anniversary of the city; beginning to function the Cathedral as Temple November 19, 1932, respected like inaugural date. Measures: Sup. Total cover: 5300 meters. Square. Long interior: 106 meters. Wide outside in the transepto: 76 meters. Wide total of the aisles: 13 meters.
