WE ARE NOW TRAVEL ADDICTS

Well what can I say. In January 2006 , we spent 16 glorious days in Malaysia and it was amazing. Especially as it was the first time I had been overseas for 30 years. When you raise five children it is hard to find the money to feed, clothe , educate and house them let alone take trips overseas. So when we went to Penang and Langkawi it was very exciting for us. I discovered digital photography and recorded our experience of exploring the Pearl of the Orient.
Since that amazing trip we have visited Thailand and Bali a couple of times and now I think it is time for me to devote more time to my travel pages.
In August 2009, I will return to Penang and I can't believe it has been three years since we took that first journey.

Renovating versus Travel

We are getting close, now for the gardens!

I love to travel, but it is a balance between paying for home improvements and taking trips off to new places. What a hard choice! I've also been building an investment property recently, so that has taken a lot of money and time.

We chose to do this in order to help our kids get a head start and get a bit closer to owning their own property one day.

Displaced Persons in Western Australia

I have an adopted brother whose birth father was born in the Ukraine in 1921 and his birth mother was born in Russia. So I've been researching the history of their journey. Through the National archives I've been able to trace an extraordinary life and I hope to share some of that search for answers on my Iwaniw page. Leonid and Maria Iwaniw were relocated to Western Australia in 1949 by the International Red Cross. They were only two of millions of displaced persons who were relocated to the US, Australia, UK and Canada.
As I find photos on my search, I'm going to share them in my Iwaniw album. I'm doing this as a small memorial to the intensely hard life they had to live and out of profound respect for them and my dear adopted brother, Leon.

Hi Helen, yes, back in Phuket. Only been home for 5 weeks since mid-November! Coming home in July. I hope you and Phil are well. You should be coming to Phuket instead of Bali! : ) Txx

Leonard has to wait till I return in September Helen. Unfortunately the OZ goverment has me by the short & curlies with Tax on investments as a Non-resident. A belssing in disguise because I love to have a reason to return to Australia every year.
