The gateway to the Whitsunday Islands

by mprice14 - last update: Oct 16, 2005

Magnums Hostel

It doesnt actually have a beach

Airle beach is a lively place full of travellers getting drunk either before or after returning from a sailing trip.

Its similar to european resorts with one strip of a few bars and clubs, peopls out i the street, the usual stuff, nothing special really.

The Witsunday Islands

A trip round the islands is a must do for everyone, is possible its got to be a 3 day trip. Sail across the sea round the islands stopping off to swim, scuba dive, have lunch or relax. We headed off the islands for walks around to see the islands from a closer distance.

Whitehaven beach gets covered on so much salt from the sea that the sand is pure white, the sea cannbe warm but there is so much to see if you can get higher up on top of some of the islands, some have man made look out posts.

After the sailing

After three days on a boat you return to you hostel grab your stuff and then usually head to the bar to have drinks and a meal with the crew. This is a great night out and a lot of boats go out and come in on the same days so there are alsways people out.

Airlie beach is the town that doesnt sleep. Bars open till 6am and people going out on sailing trips around the same time.
