There is no way you can understand how much sand there is and how it gets in places you didnt think it could. After three days you will have eaten and drunk sand with everything, you will be exhauseted, you will get biten by everything and will have a huge hangover, but you would not change a second!

As soon as you get off the ferry sand tracks lead you to the centre of the island, from here you and your "team" have to navigate on to the west side of the island to the highway. Once there tear the 4x4 up and down nearly 80 miles of beach.

The numerous lakes on the island spectacular. Many of them up to an hours walk from where you have to leave your car. They are by no means easy walks either, boiling heat, sand and baked mud with tree roots waiting to trip you over, take trainers and sun tan lotion.

Once you get there they are well worth it. Fresh water lakes to swin in and cool down before the long walk back to the car.

The camping is great fun. Pitch you tents just off the highway and set up camp. Its time to have some food and a lot of drinks, have fun and realx a bit more.

There are main camp sites you can stay at but there must be no noise after 9pm so its best to get a few cars together and pitch a big camp of your own.
