The Cotswolds - Englands Gem

The Costwolds

Sights Of The Cotswolds
The Cotswolds is an absolutely beautiful area of the UK. Iconically English; this region is picture postcard scenery, chocolate box houses and streets that cover several counties of England... Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire; basically its east of the M5 motorway, West of the M40 motorway and North of the the M4 motorway... describing its location between Motorways doesn't do it justice... but it's an easy way of geographically pinpointing this gem!!! And ironically as you will get here via one of these motorways the best way of exploring is by car... as the area is vast and fairly spread out between villages and towns.

I live just 30 mins north and often travel through this region on business, but ,most often if the weather forecast is good, we (my family) will just drive there and admire the views... usually picnic in hand and a few beers in tow!

Made up of Towns like Cheltenham and Oxford, market Towns like Stow On The Wold and Chipping Campden and villages such as Guiting Power, Lower Slaughter and Snowshill the choice of places to visit is endless.
The word "wolds" translates as "gentle hillsides" and typically this is what you will see... each hamlet, village and town separated by rolling hills, honey coloured dry-stone walls and sheep.. lots of sheep.. often loose on the road too.

Think of the quintessential Englishman driving his open top sports car through the countryside... you'll find him here!!! Admist several tourists nowadays though. Fictionally Bridget Jones' parents live in Snowshill and actually Princess Anne and Prince Charles have estates in the Cotswolds... not to mention Madonna and Guy Richie. If you're lucky you may spot someone famous!!! However it's the natural surroundings which are worth looking at... beats star-spotting anyday.

If you want to see typical "English Countryside" then here you can't go wrong... Promise!!!
