SUN, SEA, SAND & TOP THEME PARK | Along The Promenade, Salou |
Salou lies approx 100km (60 miles) south of Barcelona. It's within the Catalunya area of Spain but most people will be more familiar with the tourist name of Costa Dorada (or Costa Daurada).
The resort of Salou is actually made up of 4 districts, Salou, Cambrils, Cap Salou and La Pineda.
Salou has a population of around 17,000 people but in the height of the summer season this increases to a quarter of a million!!!
A major draw for visitors to Salou is the Port Aventura Theme Park; a well laid out and accessible Theme Park owned by Universal. It's the reason my family and I have visited for the last 3 years. We are all totally addicted to theme parks and we believe this is one of the best!!!
We've stayed at three hotels here; Estival Park, Hotel Caribe Resort, and Hotel Regina Gran... All were excellent but Caribe Resort was by far the best...actually one of the best hotels we've stayed in!!! We've looked around a few others whilst there also, asked a few residents on their opinions too, Palas Pineda in La Pineda looks excellent. We did consider staying here in 2004, but couldn't find any reviews at the time.
Palas Pineda and Regina Gran are excellent value.. about £600 for a family of 4 for a week HB 4*... can't be bad!!! |

|  | CULTURE...IF YOU LOOK Although Salou is really, a fairly ugly Spanish seaside resort, it does have some nice spots. The central area (shopping) is made up of Seventies concrete buildings which are not sympathetic to what is a beautiful coastline. However if you look that little further a few gems can be found... Take a look at my "Things To Do" section to find out what they are!!! |
