"ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA--A Dignified Memorial" Arlington by VeronicaG
Arlington Travel Guide: 478 reviews and 1,146 photos
Arlington cemetery is the last resting place for America's heroes. It is located where Civil War General Robert E. Lee's homestead once existed. John F. Kennedy's gravesite is here, as well as other noted Americans.
Edwin M. Stanton designated the site at the 200 acre Custis-Lee home as a military cemetery in 1864. There are more than 300,00 people buried here. Three unknown servicemen are interred at the Tomb of the Unknown soldier.
The guards watching over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. see www.arlingtoncemetery.net
- In a nutshell:A touching memorial to our heroes!
