Yep, that's a coyote...stuffed! - Granbury

Yep, that's a coyote...stuffed!

The Wagon Yard: Home Decor With A Texas Flavor And More

According to the walking tour guide, the WAGON YARD was once used to stable horses for those who wished to shop or conduct business in downtown Granbury. It's located behind the Nutt House and was used when the Nutt brothers built their first log cabin in 1866, which they established as a store.

The WAGON YARD today houses brass beds, country furniture, clocks of all types including grandfathers, lamps, bathroom fixtures, lighting fixtures of all sorts such as sconces or chandeliers, metal pieces for the wall, a CD section, ceiling fans and antiques.

Unusual accessories such as a miniature suit of armor or a stuffed coyote carrying a $500 price tag added a unique quality to the shop. There were LOTS of shoppers when we stopped by! I liked the table lamps sporting unusual shades made of cowhide or metallic.

Hours are Mon.-Sat. 8:30am-5:30pm; Sun. 1:30pm-4:30pm seasonally

Something For Everyone! - Granbury

Something For Everyone!

The Downtown Store: Something For Everyone!

The Downtown Store is packed with items just begging to be taken off the shelf! In fact, the store motto is SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.

Our grandson enjoys stopping here to check out their toy section. On his most recent visit, he purchased a little toy cap gun and extra caps.

Aside from toys, you'll find glassware, souvenir t-shirts, mugs emblazoned with the Texas star, Christmas collectibles and pretty ornaments, cards, colorful jelly beans and other candy, delicate earrings, lovely dolls in frilly dresses, scented candles, kitchen ware, Western themed kitchen towels and much more.

There really is something for everyone, so I just know you'd find something here!

Old West Inspired Home Decor - Granbury

Old West Inspired Home Decor

Dakota's Kabin: Western and Rustic

Dakota's Kabin carries OLD WEST decor, but also clothing and gift items in a rustic setting.

We were looking for old West paraphenalia for a guest room, so we spied some accessories to spark up this room. We paid a little more than we expected, but there's nothing like a unique piece to add something special to a room.

T-shirts, Western style purses, torquoise jewelry, the cowboy 'boot' theme in keychains, salt and pepper shakers or ceramics, books on the old West, furniture, accessories for the home, gourmet food products, cards and other themed items.

It was quite fun browsing through this shop!

Antique Mall of Granbury - Granbury

Antique Mall of Granbury

The Antique Mall of Granbury: Antiques and Collectibles

As we called it a day and departed Granbury, we noticed this antique mall along Hwy.377. Curious as to what they offered, we decided to stop for a look.

It was a large store with aisle after aisle of glassware, ceramics, wood pieces, furniture, vintage ware and newer items. The entire store was so orderly and spotless, it sparkled! I've never seen an antique store so neat, so commented on this to the lady behind the counter, who told me that everyone having a display here did their share of the work.

I was almost sorry that I couldn't find anything to purchase. The vendors worked so hard to keep their spaces attractive, I really wanted to buy something. But...nothing in particular caught my eye that day.

Brazos River Trading Company - Granbury

Brazos River Trading Company

Brazos River Trading Post: Souvenirs, Gifts and Antiques

As we browsed through the shops along the town square, we drifted into The Brazos River Trading Post. It was actually two connected shops offering jewelry, old photographs, old saddles, ceramics, china, glassware, vintage kitchen items, collectibles, old Western boots and vintage clothing.

I found some beautiful Christmas ornaments from the 50's, each with a glimmery touch of pink/gold/silver which I purchased as gifts for a friend. They were $3.50-$4.50 each and in very good condition.

I could have looked for a very long time here, but we wanted to see more shops. Each time we visit Granbury we make a point to stop at The Brazos River Trading Post. If you find yourself in this part of Texas, stop by.

Almost Heaven - Granbury

Almost Heaven

Almost Heaven;Market on the Square;Brazos Moon: The Town Square

Granbury's Town Square holds a number of antique and gift shops housed in nicely restored 19th century buildings. These three shops give a sampling of what Granbury offers:

ALMOST HEAVEN located at 118 N. Houston St. (817-573-1591). I was mesmerized by the different styles of chandeliers offered here. Note the stunning Tiffany lamp shade done in yellow, pink, red and green. Of course, there were other items offered, too. (pic #1)

MARKET ON THE SQUARE (pic #2)has quite a collection of glassware and china that are just beautiful. As with most stores here, just about every inch held a treasure or two. It's located at 112 N. Houston St. (817-573-6161)

BRAZOS MOON (pic ##) at 124 N. Houston St. has two levels of antiques and collectibles. My picture doesn't do it justice, but there was a little of this and a little of that...something for your antique collection and other things just to make your home a little unique. (817-579-8202)
