See the Vintage Planes!

On a recent weekend, friends of ours from Dallas invited us to join them for a day of sightseeing. Ralph and Janis, our traveling partners to New Mexico this past January, wanted to show us Cavanaugh Flight Museum, which is located in Addison, Texas. (Please see my travelogue for pics of vintage airplanes--most of them still fly!)

Update: We recently returned to the flight museum for a second look and to enjoy an AIR SHOW it sponsored.

We'd been to Addison last year to sample a Brazilian steakhouse, the fantastic Fogo de Chao restaurant. I should note that Addison is known for its restaurants...it has so many!

Addison is considered part of the North Dallas corridor. It experienced tremendous growth in the 1970-1980's. Today it boasts 118 acres of parks, popular restaurants and thriving businesses. Although this is all well and good, it was the vintage airplanes we were here to see!

Addison is located in the Prairies and Lakes District of Texas and was named after its second postmaster (1908-1916), Addison Robertson.

Up until that time, it was known as Peters Colony. The first man who settled there was Preston Witt, who constructed a home on White Rock Lake in 1846. The city was not incorporated until 1953. It was changed to the 'Town of Addison' in 1982.

Since you are interested in vintage planes I'm sure you would enjoy the Air and Space Museum at Le Bourget, near Paris. Even I liked it, though I am not at all a supporter of excessive present-day air travel.
