Breezy San Francisco Bay and Beyond

The Queen of the Bay--The Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge
Our first sojourn to California took place in 1999, when we traveled there to meet our son and his family who at the time were visiting La Jolla. It was a joyful reunion!

This time our journey included our grandson from Pennsylvania and took us to the San Francisco area and beyond. The briny smell of the sea along the Bay, the colorful ethnic neighborhoods, the traditional sights: Coit Tower, Telegraph Hill, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Park, the Painted Ladies of the Victorian age, clamoring up the hills by cable car and a wonderful mix of other places made our tour an exciting one.

Although quite a bit of my tips have already been added, I hope you'll stop by to see how it develops in the days to come. Come and join me on a visit to this glorious city by the Bay.

Although a blanket of mist covered the very top of the Golden Gate Bridge, we thoroughly enjoyed seeing this famous San Francisco landmark. As the morning wore on, the mist dissipated and the bridge's tall towers became visible, stretching skyward.

You've added lots more fine tips and updates to this page since I last looked at it a week and a half ago. Glad to hear about the restored Ferry Building. Thanks for mentioning me in that bicycle tip!
