    As we walked along Main Street, we came upon Made in Jerome Pottery. It looked interesting, so I stepped inside to see the shop.

    As I gazed at the pottery lining the shelves, I was told that the clay to make these pieces came from the Mingus Mountains nearby. I watched a potter work with clay, moulding the material over and over again. It takes strong arms, I'm sure!

    The studio/shop specializes in decorative and useable stoneware and has been in business since 1972. I didn't purchase anything, but enjoyed looking around.

    Main Street had art galleries, antique shops and gift shops. Nelly Bly was one of those shops whose front windows beckoned one inside.

    A unique collection of kaleidoscopes, art glass and games filled the shop. As a child, I loved kaleidoscopes! In no time at all I was peering through the tubes glimpsing wondrous patterns of color. (For more info. call 928-634-0255)

    In the same building, you'll find Nelly Bly 2. This shop carries jewelry sparkling with gems set in unique designs. (for more info. call 928-634-7825)

    Both shops are located in the old Sullivan Hotel, which was once a brothel in the 'red light district' of Jerome. Their hours are 10am-5pm daily.
