A Purposeful Visit

August 2009 I've just added further tips from my trip to Israel. Please see: Things to Do, Restaurants and Customs.

Israel in the Spring is a glorious place! Vibrant colors await you around every corner and not only in gardens or along walkways, but in the market place and the holy sites.

Although I traveled to Israel to see the historic sites mentioned in various travel magazines, assorted travel channels and the Bible, I also came here to pray. Our church group had planned this visit for nearly a year and this was our intent. It was the first time I traveled to the Middle East and it's my hope that this was not my last. I

Our group of twenty-five was composed of people of various ages, but with one heart. Many others have come here through the centuries to visit the traditional Biblical sites...here is my journey.

Note: There are some sites where I've heard women should never travel alone to, even in pairs and must be accompanied by a man for safety reasons. We traveled in a tour group and this caution did not apply, but I must say I NEVER FELT UNSAFE at any point. My trip to Israel was an awesome experience and I would recommend it wholeheartedly unless the political tensions ramp up again in the area as they do from time to time.

Excellent page, well written with beautiful photos. In October we will be visiting Jerusalem & Bethlehem on a 12 hour tour when the cruise ship berths at Ashdod.

Wonderful! Learned two new words: ossuaries and falafel! Why was your mezuzah taken in the first place? Your trip reminds of a church group tour I took in Greece/Turkey...so spiritual. Your insights are keen.

Looks like you had a spectacular trip! I don't know that I could pass up a visit to the Dead Sea, it'd be so cool to bob around like a cork :-)

You saw the Western Wall and the City of David! So nice you travelled with your church group...I hope the story about child sacrifices is not true (so sad...)...and great you also experienced the Dead Sea! So happy you did this trip...God Bless, Norman :)
